About me
I completed my BS in Nutritional Sciences in 2015 (Iowa State University) and PhD in Nutritional Sciences in 2020 (University of Illinois, UIUC). My dissertation topic: Natural vs. synthetic vitamin E in the central nervous system using a vitamin E-deficient mouse (gene-knockout model).
Collaborations with UIUC neuroscientists enriched my PhD experience. By working with experts to develop interdisciplinary projects, I've evolved as a student and researcher. I've learned to embrace the inevitable obstacles as I explore a new field, and actively seek out opportunities that will challenge my views and spark novel ideas.
I aim to weave creativity throughout all components of my research and teaching. Doing so will help me communicate key messages and excite other researchers, students, and the public about science.
My glimpse into the world of molecular neuroscience inspired me to pursue a postdoctoral position in this area. I hope to expand my technical skills, refine my communication skills, and eventually find my research niche in nutritional neuroscience.
